Hello friends! Long time no talk! Not only was the blogging on a break for me but that’s because of my amazing spring break trips with the besties. *cue Ross Geller saying his famous line* I was so blessed to be able to go to the British Virgin Islands with the girls and our lovely hosts. I figured I would break up the trip into a few separate posts due to the amount of pictures and all of the fun adventures we had.
Day 1: Travel Day and the start of the fun
Who else hates having to get up at the crack of dawn to catch a flight? My hand is definitely up. We got up and headed to the airport to catch our flight to St. Thomas. After playing hangman on the plane with the friend Becky and I made as well as getting squirted with the water bottle of the man behind us, we finally landed in literal heaven. A hop, skip, taxi and ferry ride later we finally saw Pigs Flew (the most amazing boat ever) in the the harbor of Soper’s Hole in Tortola.
As soon as we got on the boat, we put our suits on and headed over on the dingy to Pusser’s for a late lunch. After lunch and some grocery shopping, we went back to the boat and jumped right in the water. Following lots of screams from jumping and a beautiful sunset (to which I couldn’t stop saying “look how pretty that is wow”), we showered and settled down for a relaxing night.
Day 2: SAIL
Anyone else say that as the Awolnation song in their head? Day 2 we set sail to move from Tortola to Little Harbor in Jost Van Dyke. After learning how to anchor on the mooring ball (and failing a little I might add), we took some pics and jumped right in the water. We even jumped off the front of the boat, which was absolutely terrifying as a person scared of heights but I sucked it up and jumped anyway.
We got to hangout on the beach at Sidney’s, an honor bar where we got to sign our name on the walls and a JMU t-shirt we left to hang up. We also went snorkeling!
Later that night we went to Harris place and met the fabulous Cynthia aka the woman who makes the best bushwhackers with love. ALSO we got to see and eat lobsters that were pretty much the size of small dogs and they were delicious!
Day 3: Are we actually in the windy city?
Monday we were able to secure a water taxi that was trying to take us to an island for the day but unfortunately the waves were so rough from the wind that we went to a smaller island. The girls and I played some corn hole and once we got bored with that, off we went! Dwayne, the taxi driver, took us to Great Harbor where we shopped around for a little and met Foxy (a funny yet crazy man) as well as the dabbing bar tender. After that, we all hopped in Dwayne’s pick up truck with all the girls in the truck bed and went to White Bay, the home of Soggy Dollar beach bar.
We walked the beach a little and then got lunch at Hendo’s which had the most beautiful view (our whole trip was #views actually and we let it known). We chilled out and maxed out in some hammocks before heading back over the hills of JVD back to the Pig. It started raining so we decided to jump in the water for a quick dip and then we all showered and took a nap.
We ended up having a crazy storm that night and even considered cutting the boat part of the trip short to trade for a hotel but we stuck out the night, which ended up being the best way to go.
Day 4: Hurricane Party
Despite us sticking out the storm, it was very rough the next day. It ended up being so rough that we had to stick out the day in Little Harbor to wait to see if we would be able to go the next day. We attempted to move over to Great Harbor on the Pig but every ball was taken there. We went back to Little Harbor and took a taxi over to Foxy’s for lunch and a Hurricane Party. All of us swam a little bit and all around had a great time together before we went back to the boat for some great conversations and some relaxation.
Those are the first four days of our amazing trip. The next post will hopefully detail the rest. What were your spring break plans like?
